Description:
Farm animal welfare is an important issue that is being hotly debated and is often surrounded by many misperceptions. Decisions are being made regarding the welfare of farm animals that impact food animal production and handling practices. These decisions should be based on understanding a wide range of perspectives in order to positively address the needs of animals, producers, and consumers. The Animal Welfare Symposium offers producers, consumers, veterinarians and those with a stake or interest in farm animal welfare an opportunity to learn from well-known farm animal welfare experts and social scientists, who will present talks on a wide range of animal welfare perspectives.
