Building Healthy Communities, One Person at a Time, the theme for the 2008 Priester Conference, celebrates Cooperative Extension's long history of promoting health and preventing disease for individuals of every age and background, in families of all types, living in rural and urban communities. The conference showcases successful programs of Extension professionals, their community and organizational partners and their students in 3 focus areas: Successful Aging, Global and Environmental Health, and Growing Up Healthy IRL (youth) through workshops, presentations and a share fair reception. Renowned invited speakers address global warming, caregiving for aging parents, grandparents raising grandchildren and healthy eating. Playshops, a new feature, engage participants in experiential sessions that explore work/life balance, including improvisation, journaling and Tai Chi.
