4-H Horse Clinic- Gary Stauffer Extension Educator Clinician ~ Hosted by Trailblazers 4-H Club at Ponca Rodeo Arena in Ponca, NE Thursday, June 5th, 2008/ 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. approximately. Leaders Only Clinic to follow 6:00 to 8:00 (minimum of 8 to hold leader clinic) Rain Date: Thursday, July 10th ~ 9:00 a.m. DESCRIPTION: This clinic will allow 4-H horse members (ages 8 to 18) and leaders/parents to work with Clinician Gary Stauffer, UNL Extension Educator, 4-H Horse Judge, former Director of Equestrian Studies at Findlay college in Findlay Ohio to mention a few of his accomplishments. Clinic participants are encouraged, but not required, to bring a horse in order to enhance their hands-on experience. Spectators are welcome, but only horse project members and leaders will be allowed to ride in the arena during the clinic. Gary will go over basic skills and fundamentals for various events. Areas to be covered: Horsemanship/western pleasure, halter/showmanship in the morning & running events and working ranch horse in the afternoon. There will be a short break for lunch. (If enough interest, an evening session would cover the basics of working with your 4-H horse members and helping with level I and level II instruction). Those attending the working ranch horse session are asked to donate $5. the day of the clinic to cover a livestock fee for use of cattle. REGISTRATION: $15 per member or $20 per family (minor must be in 4-H horse project to ride). Parent/leader fee is $10 (which would cover all day and if there is a clinic, it would include that also). This is a non-profit clinic. Gary Stauffer is donating his time. Registration fees will cover his mileage, lodging and additional monies will be donated to the UNL Horse Program.
