Description:
Entrepreneurs are taking advantage of economic, cultural and environmental changes in the US to transform what was once called a waste into a valuable resource. There are a number of factors that make manure an increasingly valuable resource.
Commercial plant fertilizer prices have risen dramatically, making manure a more competitive source of plant nutrients. High energy prices have also made manure a more competitive source of energy. There is interest in both directly burning manure as well as capturing methane.
These and other opportunities for turning manure into a source of revenue will be the focus of the 2008 Breimyer Seminar. The seminar will be held in honor of the memory of Dr. Charlie Fulhage who was a manure management expert and early proponent of methane generation from manure.
