June 03, 2008
Description:
Vegetative Treatment Systems (VTS) are being implemented, through an innovative cost-share program, on animal feeding operations in Nebraska. VTSs can take many different forms. Visit examples of these systems on three feedlots and one cow-calf operation during a bus tour being held on June 3, 2008. The tour will be repeated on June 5. In-route on-bus presentations will include: regulatory perspective from the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality, VTS permitting, performance and monitoring, demonstration sites not on the tour (large CAFOs and dairies), and upcoming projects and activities.
