Nebraska No-Till Conference

University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension will provide corn and soybean producers information on how to be successful with no-till farming practices at the Nebraska No-Till Conference.

The conference is from 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Feb. 10 at UNL's Agricultural Research and Development Center near Mead and on Feb. 11 at the Ag Center in Holdrege. Registration begins at 9 a.m.
Conference organizers, UNL Extension educators Keith Glewen and Chuck Burr said producers will learn the benefits of no-till and how it can work for them.

Speakers include no-till farmers, university specialists and industry representatives.

The ARDC conference focuses on Erosion Control Beyond No-Till with presentations by Dietrich Kastens, farm operator, Atwood, KS and Barry Fisher, State Agronomist, Natural Resources Conservation Service, IN. Fisher will present Making Cover Crops Work in No-Till and Kastens topic will focus on using farm machinery technology in no-till.

Other topics and presenters include: Cost Share for Erosion Repair – Roger Reichmuth, District Conservationist, NRCS; Evaluating the Corn –Soybean System – Paul Jasa, UNL Extension Engineer, Dan Gillespie, farm operator, Battle Creek, NE, and Keith Glewen, UNL Extension Educator; Gully Management in Western Iowa Hills – Randy Caviness, farm operator, Greenfield, IA ; and How I Heal Gullies – Dan Gillespie.

No-till farm operators, Kastens and Fisher will also speak at the Holdrege conference. Steve Melvin, UNL Extension Educator, will discuss Irrigation Strategies in No-Till. Ray Ward, Co-Owner and President, Ward Laboratories will present No-Till Fertilizer Strategies for This Year and a panel discussion will feature 3 local no-till producers.
