Can imported fire ants eliminate other ants? Can other ants eliminate imported fire ants?

Related resource areas: Imported Fire Ants

Imported fire ants compete with other ants for resources such as food, water and space to live. Fire ants are often very good at securing resources, causing colonies of other ants to move out of the area. This displacement does not have to be permanent. Research in Texas has shown that certain ant species can compete with imported fire ants and that these species can prevent colonies of imported fire ants from becoming established.
