FAQ #119

What is the best way to treat sudden appearance of hunter's bump?

Related resource areas: Horses

Begin by having the horse examined by a veterinarian for a definitive diagnosis. References indicate that injuries of this type should result in complete rest, perferrably stall rest, for at least 30-45 days. Joint injections may also be required, and the age of the horse may also complicate the situation. Obtaining a correct diagnosis and treatment from your veterinarian is recommended.
