FAQ #120

Could mange be making my horse lose his hair in patches and leave bald spots?

You should take some hair samples to your veterinarian to see if your horse truly has mange. Mange is relatively simple to treat, and your veterinarian can give you the proper advice if in fact it is mange. Another possibility could be "rain scald" or "rain rot." Again your veterinarian can help you to determine if this is the problem and the proper treatment.
