The potato varieties listed are recommeneded for Minnesota gardeners and may or may not be available in your area.
The following actions will help prevent scab on your potatoes:
1. Use scab-resistant cultivars. Norland, Norland russet, and Superior are scab-resistant.
2. Remove crop debris from infected areas after harvesting.
3. Rotate locations.
4. Condition the soil to the acidic side for a pH around 5.2.
No fungicides are recommended for home gardens.
Other root crops, such as radishes, carrots, beets, etc., serve as host plants.
