What is the best way to apply fertilizer to my lawn?

Granular fertilizers can be easily applied with walk-behind rotary spreaders. Often, fertilizer bags will have settings for proper application rates using readily available rotary spreaders. If you decide to use a hand-crank rotary spreader, or are using a spreader which does not have settings that correspond to the label on the product you are using, calibration of the spreader may be necessary.
