There are several myths concerning strategies to control moles in a lawn. Rolling lawn areas, killing moles with poisoned peanuts, choking them to death on chewing gum, or eliminating their food supply with pesticides are probably ineffective. The best means of controlling moles is to use traps. Harpoon traps are commonly available at garden supply, farm, and hardware stores and can be effective when used on active burrows. Follow the instructions included with the trap.
