It is often not necessary to apply phosphorous to established home lawns. Care should be taken to avoid over application of phosphorous. The best way to determine the amount of all nutrients to apply to your home lawn is by soil testing. If soils test high for phosphorous, a phosphorous-free fertilizer should be used.
