Mold generally cannot be removed from porous materials, so these must be removed from the house and discarded. Mold can be removed from nonporous materials by cleaning with a non-phosphate detergent and water solution and then rinsing with clean water and drying. Applying chlorine bleach to mold does not eliminate potential health problems. Mold must be removed.
Mold growth occurred due to damp conditions and will occur again unless the moisture problem is corrected.
