The cow may have one or more metabolic disorders that must be specifically diagnosed and corrected. A private veterinarian can make the diagnosis, provide intravenous and oral metabolic therapies administered on a daily basis, and determine the prognosis.

Cows occasionally become paralyzed during calving. Visit with your veterinarian about prognosis for recovery, the rehabilitation treatment, and care of the paralyzed cow during recovery.
