What is the optimum temperature for fiber formation on the cotton plant?

Related resource areas: Cotton

The optimum temperature is 82F (within a range of 74-90 helps)--but if the temperature exceeds 95F, the growth rate declines and there is a 50 percent reduction in net photosynthesis in the plant. Any temperatures below 74F at night will also lose energy from the plant through significant respiration losses.
