I am taking care of my mother by myself. How can I get my brother and sister to help out?

An important step in getting others involved is to identify what help is needed and to ask for it. Sometimes others do not realize that we want/need help or that they have something to offer.

Write down all the tasks, and initiate a discussion to get input on what your brother and sister are able and willing to do. If they do not "volunteer," have some suggestions in mind that you think they can do based on what you know about them. Build on unique aspects of their relationship to your mother, and make them feel needed and important.
