What is Cyclospora cayetanensis?

Cyclospora cayetanensis is a microscopic intestinal protozoan parasite. Much is still unknown about C. cayetanensis, but it is a known cause of a gastrointestinal infection (cyclosporiasis) with increasing worldwide incidence, including cases in the United States and Canada.
