The answer depends partly on the size of your operation. For a smaller operation targeting a local client base, some of the ways you can promote your heifer operation include word of mouth, taking out ads in local papers or dairy magazines in the area, and creating a promotional flyer that can be sent to prospective clients. A large-scale operation can consider regional or national dairy magazines as well. We agree that it is important to get the operation to full capacity to enhance your profitability. You might contact the National Dairy Calf and Heifer Association office for suggestions on other options (www.pdhga.org).
