Should I apply starter fertilizers to my soybean crop?

Starter fertilizers can be considered as viable mechanisms for fertilizer application, but they have not been shown to increase yields over broadcast applications.

If planter equipment can place fertilizer in a band beside the row, then applications of nutrients in this manner are fine.
