Is the threat of terrorism in agriculture real?

Yes. US military and other intelligence sources have evidence of planning by domestic and international groups that indicate that agriculture and the larger food system are targets for terrorist activities. The US has seen numerous, documented cases of terrorism involving agriculture and other parts of food production systems perpetrated by US residents.
