When does cotton start fruiting?

The initiation of fruiting is dependent upon variety but is normally on the fifth to eighth node of development. Longer season less determinate varieties initiate fruiting higher on the plant, and short season stripper varieties initiate fruiting at the fifth or sixth node. This is normally about 35 days from emergence, but this will vary according to heat units received since planting
