Since the purpose of drip irrigation is to reduce waste through precise measurements of water, filtration is important to take out the grit, sand, algae and other impurities sometimes found in irrigation water. Filtration will help ensure full emitter flow without clogging. If you are interested in more information on drip irrigation and filtration, several resources are available online and through your Extension Service. One online source to check is with the Irrigation Training and Research Center (ITRC) at www.itrc.org .
Unlike most other resources on the web, we have experts from Universities around the country ready to answer your questions.
