What is a thumbnail?

Related resource areas: Entrepreneurs & Their Communities

A thumbnail is a small version of a picture. It is usually between 100 to 150 pixels wide. It is useful if you want to display a lot of pictures on a page but don't want the page to take forever to download. If people want to view the picture, they can click on it and get the larger size.

Thumbnails are great for e-commerce sites where you have a lot of photos and need quick download time.
