I read that cows like routines and that you can increase milk production by sticking to a rigid routine in the production process. Is this true?

Yes, this is true. The most important of those routines is inter-milking interval. Keeping a consistent inter-milking interval is the best. It is important to train all milkers to use the same procedures and routine at every milking, from cow prep through teat dipping. This ensures maximum let-down and removal of the maximum amount of milk in the shortest milking time.
