What is meant by conservation tillage?

Conservation tillage means that soil disturbance is minimized in producing the crop. Plant residue is used to reduce erosion and conserve soil moisture. This may be done in several ways and may involve using winter cover crops or residue from previous crops. In general, at least 30 percent residue on the soil surface must be maintained to be considered conservation tillage
