Yes, but with effort. Shelves, crispers, and ice trays should be washed thoroughly and sanitized with hot water and detergent and then sanitized with a bleach solution comprised of 1 teaspoon bleach per quart of water. The interior as well as the door and gasket should be washed with hot water and baking soda and then sanitized with a bleach solution. The refrigerator should then be left to air dry.

For lingering odors, wipe inside with a solution of equal parts of water and vinegar. Allow the appliance to air for several days. Afterward, fill the appliance with newspaper wads and close the door. After several days, remove the paper and clean again with vinegar and water. Placing fresh coffee grounds or baking soda in a shallow pan inside the refrigerator may also help absorb lingering odors. Likewise, placing vanilla-soaked cotton balls or swabs inside the refrigerator may help.
