Absolutely. Ginning, the removal of lint from seed, is a rather harsh physical procedure...but a necessary one! Ginning speed, drying, lint cleaning, etc. affect fiber properties. For example, excessive heat in the ginning process can result in fiber breakage, reducing fiber strength, length, and uniformity. Likewise, aggressive lint cleaning (employing more than a single lint cleaner in the final processes of ginning) may improve color/leaf grades but may affect reduce length parameters as well as total lint weight.
