The six major functions of a grain combine are the following: gather and cut standing crop or pick up a windrow; convey the gathered crop to a threshing mechanism; thresh or remove grains from heads, ears, or pods; separate the grain from material-other-than-grain (MOG); clean chaff and debris from the grain; and handle the clean grain.
