¿Cual es la importancia de suministrar propionato de calcio a las vacas que van a parir o a las vacas frescas?

El propionato de calcio se puede suministrar a razón de 100 a 250 gramos al día a las vacas que van a parir y a las vacas frescas. Es una buena fuente de glucosa (reduce el riesgo de cetosis) fácilmente disponible y de calcio (evita el nivel bajo de calcio en la sangre). El producto no es apetecible y se lo debe ocultar en la ración total mezclada (TMR). Es también un producto que ayuda a la conservación y por lo tanto puede reducir la temperatura del TMR.
