What is point-source water pollution?

Point-source water pollution originates from a specific, identifiable place, such as a factory, a sewage plant, an underground fuel tank, or even an animal feedlot. In order to better control and treat point-source water pollution, piping or ditching may be used to direct the flow of water or movement of contaminants.
