The California Department of Pesticide Regulation determines which pesticides can be used in California. According to its databases, the following products were labelled for use against fire ants in pastures in California as of 2007:
Esteem Ant Bait (pyriproxyfen)
Extinguish Professional Fire Ant Bait (methoprene)
