Feeding frequency (daily versus three times per week versus once a week) of some supplements may affect animal response. Research conducted in New Mexico has demonstrated that heifer performance (weight gain and conception rate) significantly declined when the frequency of energy supplementation was decreased from daily to twice per week. As a general rule, energy supplements (less than 20 percent crude protein) should not be fed less frequently than every other day, and daily delivery is most desirable.
