To help prevent your horses from contracting strangles, it is beneficial to vaccinate horses that are at high risk with two initial injections at 1-2 month intervals and then an annual booster every year after that. You can also construct an inside buffer fence to prevent direct contact of horses across fence lines as well as washing and disinfecting your hands, instruments, and tackle between horses.
