Where can you hear a foal's heartbeat in a mare that is 6½ months pregnant?

It is very unlikely that you will hear the foal's heartbeat with a stethoscope, no matter where you place it externally on the mare. Horses have a lot of gut noise, and the stethoscope is not sensitive enough at the distance it will be from the fetus to pick up the sound. You could use an ultrasound machine to see the foal's heart actually beating.
