National organizations that support agricultural business development include the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Web sites such as that for the Agricultural Marketing Resource Center. It might be best to start with your state's Cooperative Extension Service by contacting the local county Extension office or searching for the statewide publications they offer; for example, the Center for Farm Financial Management at the University of Minnesota offers a software program that provides a step-by-step process of business planning and integrates it with Finpack financial management software. Other commercial sources are also available.
