House fly elimination is accomplished through good integrated pest management (IPM) practices. The best way to control flies on a patio or in the home is to exclude them by screening. Sanitation procedures include the obvious--keeping trash receptacles and any other areas that flies tend to frequent clean--and keeping dumpsters covered, as clean and dry as possible and away from structures. Eliminate any fly-breeding areas, including garbage, manure piles and other animal by-products. Use of fly sprays and baits is a temporary solution--one that must be used away from food.
