Is there something wrong with petunias in hanging baskets that are sticky?

Petunias naturally have sticky stems. They exude a sticky substance from their stem tissues, which may spread to the flowers as well. Some varieties are stickier than others, especially since plant breeders have been trying to develop varieties without sticky stems.
