FAQ #36226

Our family is trying to take care of my dad, who is very frail and lives on his farm alone. He could really benefit from some home modifications or assistive devices, but there’s no money to do that. Is there any financial assistance available for him?

First check with your local Community Action Agency. Your CAA may have a program established for home modifications.

Depending on the home modifications needed, another possibility would be the USDA Rural Development Agency ( www.rurdev.usda.gov). This organization provides for home repair loans and grants, and some of their programs are targeted for elderly individuals.
