The easy answer is yes, but it depends on how far you may need to haul the manure. With the price of nitrogen fertilizer at historically high levels, the amount of nitrogen available for crop growth in manure makes it very affordable to haul within 5 miles of your livestock operation. At greater distances, it may still be affordable depending on the type of manure. Liquid manure can be pumped very long distances at a more affordable price than hauling solid manure. For an example of the costs involved in hauling solid manure, check out Can I Afford to Haul Manure? from North Dakota State University and You Can’t Afford Not to Haul Manure from Iowa State University.
