FAQ #36928

Should home mortgage holders in good standing move their mortgages from troubled mortgage companies?

Related resource areas: Personal Finance

As a current home owner, you should not be affected by the financial difficulties that "troubled mortgage companies" may be having. It is important to continue to make your mortgage payments (be sure to keep accurate records of your payments). It is possible someone else will take over the mortgage company or purchase your current mortgage from the mortgage company that is experiencing financial difficulties. If this happens, you will be notified who has taken over your mortgage and where your future payments should be sent.
