Smooth bromegrass is a cool-season grass that grows throughout the United States and is an acceptable forage for horses. It is very winter hardy and persists through heat and drought. However, smooth bromegrass has very uneven yield distribution, is slow to regrow, has poor summer productivity, could be coarse and stemmy, and should not be used under continuous grazing.
