What can I do to prevent bed bugs from infesting a structure?

Bed bugs can be introduced into a structure through furniture or on the person of the home owner, or building occupant. Once they are inside, the seek cracks, crevices on the head boards, foot boards, bed frame, mattress seams, and other areas near the bed because they feed frequently.

So to prevent infestation:
1. avoid places that may have bed bugs. During travel, inspect accomodations for signs of bed bugs by examining the mattresses, box springs, furniture, bed frame, for visible signs of bed bugs. And upon returning home, inspect your clothes and whatever else was used on the trip to ensure you are not introducing bed bugs into your home.

2. avoid purchasing or renting used furniture or clothing, mattresses, etc. or closely inspect the items before introducing them into your home.
