Everyone I have talked to says that the younger feral hogs are tasty, but eh larger ones are "strong" tasting. So, my question is can, say, a 400 lb male feral boar be made edible?

As far as preparing the meat for consumption, the quality of the meat is affected by handling, storage, the condition of the hog prior to slaughter, and other factors. Again, I'd suggest you contact your local Cooperative Extension office. There are also preparation guidelines on the internet (e.g., Feral Hog Recipies).
