What part of the house is most vulnerable to wildfire?

Your roof is the most vulnerable part of your home. Even if you have a fire-resistant roof covering, the roof edge and locations where your roof connects with the sides of the house can be vulnerable to embers. This is especially true if flammable debris has accumulated in those areas and the adjacent building materials are combustible. Depending on where you live, fire codes may require fire-resistant roof coverings. Contact your local fire official to find out roof requirements for your area. See FAQ 39226 for more information about roofs.
