Time and natural processes will diminish the smoke smell outdoors. For inside the home, professional post-fire cleaning services have ways to reduce smoke smells as they work on cleaning up the damage. In some cases, repainting, replacing carpets, and other actions may be required. Check and replace, or clean, air-filtration systems, and plan on doing this several times. If attic insulation and other materials are saturated with smoke smell, they may also need replacing. Inspections and plans for remedy by insurance adjusters should account for these services.
