It depends. If recently killed trees were harboring a bark beetles population, those beetles may still be alive and can emerge the following spring to infest neighboring live trees. Other borers that infest dead trees are called secondary borers, and most do not pose a problem to live trees. To be safe, consider salvaging the dead and dying trees, which will help ensure the health of the remaining living trees.
