What is hydroseeding, and how do I decide whether to do it?

Last Updated: October 15, 2009

Hydroseeding is a slurry of water, wood fiber, seed, and fertilizer and is best used on short, steep, highly erodible slopes that have been partially or completely denuded of vegetation.

Hydroseeding is expensive and is usually reserved for areas close to roads, bridges, homes, and other structures. Slope lengths of 100 to 200 feet can be treated.
