A life cycle can be defined as the stages or phases of growth that an organism goes through as it develops to adulthood. Knowing something about life cycles and the different life stages of a pest may suggest different control strategies. Developing an IPM program for mosquitoes, for example, would be difficult without knowing where mosquito larvae develop (standing water), where mosquito adults spend their days (in foliage) and when they are active.
