I live in a modular home. Do I qualify for a tax credit for installing a high-efficiency water heater?

Yes. The Residential Energy Efficient Property tax credit is fully explained in instructions for IRS Form 5695 (www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f5695.pdf). The credit covers 30% of solar water heating property costs up to $2,000. It also includes qualified wind and geothermal energy property expenses. For the purposes of this tax credit, a "home" includes a manufactured home that conforms to Federal Manufactured Home Construction and Safety Standards, as well as mobile homes, houses, houseboats, condominiums, and cooperative apartments.
